We previously practiced some prepositions, so now is a very good time to have a look at few frequently used phrasal verbs. A phrasal verb is simply a verb plus a preposition.
Verb+ preposition + object.
On/off.
Put on the coat Ponte el abrigo. O Put the coat on.
Take off the shoes. Quitate los zapatos or Take the shoes off.
Pronouns always go in front of on/off etc: Delante de.
Put your scarf on. Or put it on.
Take off your hat. Or take it off.
Take off your socks. Or take them off.
More examples.
The child was cold so his mum put on his coat or she put his coat on.
Rosanna put off her appointment with the doctor. (Postpone) or she put her appointment off.
Turn on. Turn off. Encender/apagar.también. Abrir o cerrar un grifo.
It´s dark, turn on the light. Turn the light on
It´s cold. Turn on the heater. Turn the heater on.
The film is over, turn the television off. Turn it off. Turn the TV off.
We also use switch on switch off.: encender/apagar.
